PUBLIC COMMENT/POLICING MATTERS
(a) The Clerk noted that he has sent the date of the Annual Parish Meeting to WPC Sarah Evans. Members questioned whether she was still our Beat Officer. The Clerk was asked to find out what the current policing situation was.
2843 MINUTES: The minutes of the meeting held on Thursday 4th January 2007 were approved and signed by the chairman as being an accurate account of the meeting.
2844 MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES
- Use of The Green for a Farmer’s Market: Madam Chairman reported that a committee meeting had been held on 23rd January to discuss the proposals as submitted by Richard Holmes. The minute of this meeting was read to the full Council and discussions followed. It was agreed to send these minutes to Richard for further negotiation on conditions for use of the Green.
- Tree Inspection: Cllr Tame (Tree Wraden) being absent the item was postponed
- LCC Pre-application for an O2 mast in the village: the Clerk read his letter of response to the pre-application that was based on the decisions made at the January WPC meeting. Mr.Newbolt-Young reported on the public meeting held on 30.01.07 to which 56 members of the community attended. At the end of that meeting a vote was taken which indicated 54 against with two abstentions. It now appears that the owners of the two proposed sites have withdrawn their support for placing a mast on their property. The Clerk read a letter from TDC which indicated that permission would only be granted if WPC gave their full support. As this support was not forthcoming, there seems to be no way forward for LCC but to look for a new site. Mr.Newbolt-Young brought a letter of support for WPC’s views from the Chief Executive of DNPA. LCC have stated that they are not interested in attending any public meeting on the matter. The Parish Council has also received a letter of support from our local MP who has asked the Secretary of State to issue clearer guidelines for the consultative process for future Tetra Masts in the UK. The Council thanked Mr.Newbolt-Young for all is efforts in arranging the public meeting and getting such high power support. No further action.
- May 2007 Local Elections: after discussion it was agreed that the Clerk should place an article in the Parish Link on the importance of members of the community standing for election to the Council. Members were encouraged to speak with potential candidates in the Parish
- Annual Parish Meeting: 21st March 2007. The Clerk reported that Ruth Taylor of Teignbridge Council for Voluntary Services has accepted an invitation to me the guest speaker. It was agreed to begin the meeting with a wine and cheese reception and that Mrs Phipps would contact various Parish groups to invite reports.
