Many books have been written about Widecombe’s History.

Some of these have been written by local people. You can take a look at some of them here.

As a taster, let us start with a mystery. The early surviving medieval documents relating to Widecombe Church, explored in the paper of the same name, also include a reference to a place called ‘Wodehaye’. It is not known for certain where this place is, other than that it must be close to the centre of Widecombe village. Perhaps you can provide the solution. You can read the paper below.
